La station Havre-Caumartin Ligne 3, habituellement assez sobre, a été décorée cet automne aux couleurs d'une course hippique, le Grand Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Lucien Barrière. Elle acquiert ainsi un petit air de verdure un peu surprenant mais fort agréable.
Jusqu'en 1926 le nom de la station était Caumartin, d'après la famille de magistrats français Le Fèvre de Caumartin. Le Havre est un port de commerce important situé à l'embouchure de la Seine. La rue du Havre donne justement accès à la Gare St-Lazare, d'où l'on peut prendre un train qui y mène. La station dessert par ailleurs une zone centrale et très marchande qui compte en particulier des grands magasins parisiens de renom, comme Le Printemps et les Galeries Lafayettes. Station Havre-Caumartin on Line 3 does not usually stand out despite its bright yellow decoration. This autumn it has been dressed up as an ad for a horse race, the Grand Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe Lucien Barrière. This gives it a surprising but pleasant country feel.
Until 1926 the station was called Caumartin, from a French family of magistrates whose full name was Le Fèvre de Caumartin. At that point "Le Havre" was added in reference to the nearby rue du Havre, which leads to St-Lazare station where one can board a train to Le Havre, a large harbour city on the estuary of the Seine river. The station is located in the central shopping district of Paris, including the two famous Parisian "grands magasins", le Printemps and Les Galeries Lafayette.
